August Summer Dance Intensive

The Dance Class is thrilled to announce our amazing guest teachers we will be having at our August Intensive camp. The Intensive camp is open to anyone aged 7+ who trains a minimum of 5 hours a week and has previous dance experience.

The schedule will be released shortly but for now, read through the bios of our great teachers and choreographers: 

Mindy Conto

HIP HOP and JAZZ

Mindy was born and raised in North Bay, Ontario and has trained in all disciplines of dance since the age of 10! She is an accomplished dancer, choreographer and instructor who continues to share her passion and love for dance with her students all over Canada! She has choreographed for several professional sporting dance teams including the Toronto Raptors Dance PAk(NBA) in which she was a team member and dance captain for 4 consecutive seasons. Mindy has appeared in the movie Honey starring Jessica Alba and numerous commercials for Esquire Watches. She has also performed back up dancing for many popular artists such as PSY, Hilary Duff, Carly Rae Jepsen, Bow Wow, Destiny’s Child, Aaron Carter, Massari, Shawn Desman, Kardinal Featuring Akon, Fefe Dobson, Aleesia, Shiloh, Eva Avila, Suzie McNeil, Kreesha Turner and Neil Young. Mindy is welcoming all dancers to her classes and hopes they enjoy her enthusiasm and unique style.

Artur Adamski 

BALLROOM

Artur started dancing 10 years ago at the age of 12 at a Polish Folk Dance company called Lechowia.  It is there that he was introduced to Ballroom dancing and decided to begin his career as a ballroom dancer.  After leaving the company to focus on his Latin dancing, Artur began competing all around North America and the world, training with world-class professional coaches. Expanding his dance education, Artur was accepted into the dance program at Cawthra School of the Arts to major in dance. Here, he became familiar with many other dance styles including classical ballet, modern as well as jazz. He completed his high school education there and became a certified Dance Major graduating with honors.

As a ballroom competitor, Artur is a Canadian Finalist, French Open champion, Runner-up at the London Open,  15th at the British Open at Blackpool,  3rd in North America at the Ohio Star Ball and has won many other competitions. He is continuously training and furthering his knowledge of dance with some of the top teachers of ballroom dancing.  Apart from competing, Artur loves teaching, and has had the pleasure of training some of the top couples in Ontario as well as all of Canada.

He has participated, as a dancer, in the world famous BDFI Blackpool Dance Congress with many world champions in May 2012. Last but not least, Artur has been signed to perform in a Dancing with the Stars show where he performed in a production called “Dance Star” and “Dancing like the Pros”  that was seen at the Fallsview Casino in February and July 2013.

Dr Tara Schell

TAP

Tara has been dancing since the age of 3. She competed successfully in all disciplines of dance throughout Europe and North America winning numerous group awards and solo titles – including representing Canada at the World Showdance Championships in Germany 2001. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology at McMaster University in Hamilton Ontario where she was the administrative assistant and featured dancer for the Urban Dance Company (a division of the McMaster Dance Company). As a member of UDC she took home the title of Ontario University Competition for Hip Hop (O.U.C.H.) in the 2003 and was awarded the most prestigious honour at the American College Dance Festival when UDC was chosen to perform the finale piece at the Gala in 2004.

Tara completed her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2010 and currently practices in Mississauga and Brampton. She structures her classes around her extensive knowledge of human biomechanics and dance specific training programs to educate her students on how to safely improve both their technique and their artistry.

Stefanie Ang

ACRO

Stefanie Ang began dance at the age of three training in jazz, tap, ballet, acrobatics, lyrical, hip hop and modern; studying RAD, Cecchetti, ADAPT and DMA syllabus. She also has been trained in artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and aerial circus arts. At the age of 6, Stefanie appeared on The Tiny Talent Time Show performing a solo and trio routine and at the age of 14 she received an invitation to attend a private audition for Cirque Du Soleil in Montreal. Stefanie has competed at national and international competitions and has been rewarded with such scholarships as Overall Soloist and Most Promising Senior Dancer. She is a graduated from Mayfield Secondary School of the Arts where she received an Arts Letter for her contribution to the dance program as well the Spirit Dance Award Scholarship for her outstanding choreography in Mayfield’s productions. Stefanie has been teaching both recreational and competitive dance for over 12 years now with her students winning numerous overall high scores and scholarship awards at several competitions. Her choreography has also won Judges Choice award for “Precision”, “Outstanding Choreography” and “Most Potential”.  Stefanie is a well-respected dance teacher and her passion of dance shows through her student’s achievements. Stefanie loves being able to pass on her experiences, knowledge and talent to all aspiring students.

Addison Brasil

MUSICAL THEATRE and JAZZ

Addison Brasil is a native of Oakville, Ontario and received his dance training at Dance Elite, Etobicoke School of the Arts and the Canadian Dance Company. After many years of competing and winning various awards and titles, he finished his competitive dance career alongside the Canadian National Dance Team under the direction of Marnie Palmer and Allain Lupien.

Before pursuing his performance career, he earned a silver medal and was ranked as one of the top ten male dancers in the world while representing Canada at the 2006 IDO World Championships. He went on to study as a scholarship student and graduated with honours from Point Park University’s Conservatory Dance Program in Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. Brasil has performed on stages internationally and has become known for his talent as an up and coming dancer, actor and choreographer.

Addison has been seen in Ann Reinking’s Piano Keys, Doug Varone’s The Constant Shift of Pulse, West Side Story, Beauty and The Beast for the Walt Disney Company and multiple shows for Royal Caribbean Productions. He is a proud member of the Actors Equity Association and is currently represented by SixOSeven Management. Addison is also the Co-founder and Chairman of the Team Brother Bear Foundation of Canada, which supports children and families affected by brain tumours.

Amy Adams

CONTEMPORARY 

Amy Adams began her passionate journey of dance training over 20 years ago in Mississauga, ON. She graduated from the dance program at Cawthra Park Secondary School, while also training at Sean Boutilier Academy of Dance in ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, modern and pointe. Amy then attained her B.A. in Psychology from McMaster University (Hamilton), where she further found her passion for both dancing and choreographing when she co-founded and directed Verve Dance Team. Verve is a competitive dance company through which she won many awards for both her dancing and choreography at competitions across Ontario. Amy continues to discover her love for both teaching and choreographing as a faculty member of Xpressions Creative Dance (Hamilton) where her choreography has won various awards in the styles of contemporary, jazz and hip hop. Most recently, Amy completed the International Student Visa Program at Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Although Amy focused on training in contemporary, working with mentors Cat Cogliandro and Jenn Freeman, she also had the opportunity to experience a variety of street styles with top industry teachers/choreographers. While training in New York, Amy discovered a new desire to bring inspiration, self-discovery and smart choices to her classes and dancing, through honesty and passion within her movement. Performance experiences include Good Morning American (NYC) for Icona Pop (“I Love It”), Resorts World Casino (Queens, NY) for The Man Stuntman (“I Like To Move It”), Much Music’s Electric Circus NYE Party (Toronto), ABA Entertainment’s “The Bazaar” Showcase (Toronto), Habitat For Humanity Gala (Toronto), Alvin Ailey Student Showcase (NYC) and Broadway Dance Center Student Showcase (NYC). Amy is excited to bring all of her experiences from New York City to the dance community in Canada and wishes to evoke inspiration, discovery and growth in every dancer she works with.

Of course we will also be having some of our amazing TDC staff joining us as well!
