Due to the pending drop in temperature, freezing rain is expected or occurring now. Freezing rain is expected to last several hours into the afternoon before changing over to rain by evening. Precipitation will change back to all snow overnight or early Thursday morning as colder air gets pumped in from the north in the wake of this large and messy low pressure area. About 2 to 5 cm of snow are expected on Thursday. Environment Canada continues to monitor this system very closely. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break.
